You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.

As promised, photos from our two-week sail! Wish I had been better about taking more, but perhaps I can steal some from my (more talented & photographically inclined) friends... :)

Teo serenading us out of the port in Tenerife-- He has been a dear friend to Mercy Ships for many, many years, and I was so fortunate to get to spend an inspirational day with him visiting the volcano in Tenerife!

Sailing away!

When 400 people are cooped up on a ship for two weeks, you have to go to great lengths to prevent the rampant spread of cabin fever. Sock golf, a ship-wide scavenger hunt, movie nights, star gazing, a pirate dance party, birthday surprises, early morning yoga sessions and afternoon insanity workouts, quality girl talk on the top deck, and worship on the bow were some of the many activities which not only kept us sane, but made the sail incredibly memorable!

Happy Birthday to Jess! Complete with a sprite cake (just add a can of sprite to cake batter and voila!) and the best 'question game' ever. Thankful for these phenomenal ladies!

Next post: Photos of our arrival in Pointe-Noire and why you now need to address me as Amy, Royal Diamond Shellback, RN BSN, CPN. ;)
